Fashion: Silk, Denim, Oestrogen
CLAD in what looked like a comfy jumper and wearing hair up, mighty Gascon, Héléne Darozze, muse for the character, Colette in ‘Ratatouille’, pledged her support to ‘Afghanistan Libre’ over lunch at The Connaught.
The charity, she explained, seeks to improve psychological and social conditions for women in the landlocked Islamic republic, an ancient focal point of the silk trade. Her vehicle for communicating her support was the ‘Just Like You’ campaign, a year-long film series curated by fashion brand, Citizens of Humanity (best known for denim).
Other subjects have included: Rickson Graci, black and red belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and ballet dancer, Mikhail Baryshnikov.
The highlight of the four-course lunch, prepared by Darozze’s kitchen and attended by what was a somewhat overwhelming number of female fashion editors and/or their assistants, was guinea fowl stuffed with tarragon, with wild mushrooms and Jersey ratte potatoes. This was served with quite a few soothing gulps of incisive Graves (Château Haut Peyrous ’08) from the estate of Darozze’s brother, Marc.
