Yesterday evening, some friends and I splashed out on a sprightly bottle of Cortese - La Giustiniana Rovereto di Gavi '06. This zippy, grapefruit skin and lychee scented character delivered sharpened lemon verbena, lemon sherbet and greengage on the palate. The only issue - I tasted the wine on my palate the following day (even after one glass). Some Viognier leaves a similar sensation.
