Little Sweet One

I MUST DECLARE a bias towards this pleasing little wine - Ca' Dil Fra '05 - it is made by one of my (recently discovered) relatives in Alessandria, Piedmont, Italy.

Fragrantly musky with greeting, cheerful cherry and sugar-coated cola bottles on the nose, unwashed blueberries come through on the palate. This faintly frizzante wine is engaging but not selfish. Rustic, but poetic. Self-assured and in harmony with itself. No need to put on a show...

Dolcetto means 'little sweet one', although this example (like most) has a pleasing bitterness towards the finish.
