Boutique Moonshine

SIGNS SHOW London Bridge station is heading upmarket - heralded by the appearance of high brow confectionery. Maybe it is the influence of nearby Borough Market? -Gastronomic gentrification...
My sister and I had a splendid day yesterday.

We began at Bedales with Jensen gin, a lightly green hued, eucalyptus-scented boutique moonshine distilled in Bermondsey. Soft, but never feeble, with aromas of a botanical garden in high summer and cucumber [£18.99].
Just 200 bottles are produced per month. We then supped at Feng Sushi (culminating in kulfi-esque chalky textured Green Tea ice cream) before winding down at Wine Wharf with a fluid carousel of five reds for £10.

The '03 Omrah Cabernet Sauvignon from Western Australia, named after the S.S. Omrah ocean liner that sailed from Albany, was our mutual favourite. Fresh, with ripe dark fruits and a hint of secret bosque.
