Una De Gato

Minervois, '02
[6.39, Oddbins. 50p / bottle goes to the Rainforest Foundation]

DEEP, LUSTROUS ruby in colour with attractive long legs and some flecks of copper. On the palate this varietal syrah delivers dried plantains with a touch of the butcher's shop. On the palate this is initially fresh, followed by a wet stone wall (water fall?) feel. Caressing tannins with a good aftertaste. Alcohol is quite discernible, be warned.

The brand, 'Una de Gato' translates as Cat's Claw (depicted on the label) which is a rainforest herb and tonic.
